Carpentry Training Centers
There are a large number of carpentry training centers in the United States through which you can obtain your education and training in this field. Unless you want to work as an unskilled laborer making minimum wage, the right training is essential to your success. These centers and schools give you everything you will need to begin your career as a professional carpenter. One such school is the Southeast Wisconsin Carpentry Training Center. This center recently moved from Milwaukee to Pewaukee and offers apprentice day school classes for aspiring carpenters.
Many training centers offer the CSAP, which stands for the Carpenter Skill Advancement Program. This program has been offered for 15 years in a total of 300 classrooms. It is estimated that more than 7,000 apprentices applied for this program in order to further their education. The classes offered under this program range in length from 3 to 40 hours in length. They are available in several languages including English and Spanish. If you are in Illinois you can take these courses at the Chicago Carpenter Training Center as well as at centers in Elk Grove and Joliet.
One organization that you may want to consider joining regardless of where you are is the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners or UBC. There are more than 500,000 members of this organization which helps educate and protect the interests of carpenters. This organization can give you more information about working as a carpenter and finding apprentice opportunities. Every carpenter must work as an apprentice for a specified amount of time before being able to advance to the next level of their career. Apprenticeship provides valuable hands on training that is essential to your success in this field.
The Internet can help you locate carpentry training centers near you. You can find them using the search engine of your choice. You will probably want to narrow down the field by including the name of your state in the search phrase. While there may not be a training center in your town or city, there is likely one within reasonable driving distance. You may also want to check the listings of your local Yellow Pages. In addition to looking for carpentry training facilities contact the trade schools in your area. Many trade schools offer a variety of different courses including carpentry.
